The workshop featured two interactive panel discussions led by subject matter experts.

Panel 1: Access to the Sky: Requirements for Public Sector Operation of Unmanned Vehicle Systems

Panelists included representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), law enforcement officers who have secured an FAA COA for their departments and a legal representative with experience in flight and aircraft operations regulations.

Panelists included Mr. Hal Kittrell (standing), District Attorney, 15th District Court of Mississippi and Special Agent Guy Walton (seated right) of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Key issues addressed:

  • Maintaining the integrity of data (evidence) collected using unmanned vehicles
  • Establishing Policy and Procedures for UAV operations within public safety departments
  • Certification and calibration of UAV platforms and data-collection payload sensors.
